You are invited to Time to Change Leicester’s event organised by Leicester City Council.
Time to talk day is an annual event which is part of National Time to Change – a campaign run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness to tackle mental health stigma. To find out more about Time to Change you can visit their website found at: https://www.time-to-change.org.uk/.
The Leicester City Council website also has information about our local campaign and support available: https://www.leicester.gov.uk/mentalhealth.
The event will be held at St Martins House Conference Centre, 7 Peacock Lane, Leicester LE1 5PX from 10.00am – 4.00pm. Feel free to pop in at any time!
The event aims to facilitate conversations between those with or without lived experience of mental illness or mental health struggles, with the aim of creating open conversations. As well as challenging stigma, it will signpost that there is support out there and encourage people to reach out.
Organisations including the Samaritans will be delivering presentations to break-out groups and local charities and Mental Health Advocacy Services will also be attending. Members of The University of Leicester’s Mental Health Awareness and Support Society will be present on the day to represent the importance of Student Mental Health.
Activities – for instance a pledge wall to demonstrate commitment to challenging mental health discrimination will be part of the day, as well as stalls and information on the Five-Ways to Wellbeing – a combination of physical and mental health practices that are used to improve our own Wellbeing.
There will be tea and talk sessions, with tea, cake and coffee and speakers during the day. The event is open to all groups, individuals and members of the public. Come along and talk to us and show your support for mental health!
