The Clinical Commissioning Groups for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have announced their preferred bidder for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS)
Thames Ambulance Service Limited (TASL) has won a 5 year contract worth £28 million. It will take over from Arriva Transport Solutions who have held the contract since 2012. TASL is part of the Thames Group which has 30 years of experience of providing Patient Transport Services. It will take on the responsibility for taking patients to and from hospital and health appointments from the start of October.
Tamsin Hooton is Director of Urgent and Emergency care for West Leicestershire, Leicester City and East Leicester and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Groups or have procured and will pay for the new service. She said the new company has “considerable experience” and was committed to improving services.
