A local man, along with his support team, will fly 48 hours without sleep in a fixed based 737 NG simulator to raise money for Leicester Hospitals Charity’s ‘Reaching Out for Kids Research Appeal’, as well as the Mid Anglia General Practioner Accident Service and Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
Neil Hodgson will take on the simulator challenge for the third time and aims to raise at least £2,000 for the three charities to make it the best year yet.
The event will take place from 10am on Saturday 25 March to 10am Monday 27 March. The use of the simulator is being given free of charge by Jonathan Lockton and his team at Jet Sim School Ltd in Peterborough.
Leicester Hospitals Charity’s ‘Reaching Out for Kids Research Appeal’ is raising funds towards a dedicated Children’s and Genetics Research Facility at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Donations will help to fund a purpose-designed facility created with children, young people and their families in mind. The donations will also equip the facility with specialist sensory equipment as well as creating a home from home environment for patients.
Neil Hodgson said: “We aim to raise as much money for our charities with our commitment, passion and our community which can make a difference to many people’s lives.”
Christina Daines, Children’s Research Manager at Leicester’s Hospitals, said “We are so thankful to Neil and his team. Being able to carry out our research in a purpose built facility equipped with the latest specialist sensory equipment will make a huge difference to our young patients.”
